Jennifer’s Favorite Things… and a GIVEAWAY!

“I simply remember my favorite things, and then I don’t feel so bad…”

Yes, that is me right about now singing along with the Sound of Music song as I’m writing this blog post. But enough about that, lets get onto what you are here for!

As 2017 draws to a close we are sharing just a few of our Favorite Things and have a giveaway to share with you as well! Check it out before it ends on December 18th, 2017.

My Favorite Holiday Activity

While there are very few holiday activities that I have loved over the years, one that comes back to me time and time again is holiday baking. I can remember so many times as a child with my mother making multiple batches of fudge over a double boiler, my dad making a huge batch of Chex Mix and then multiple other random goodies made by family over time.

When I first had my own house I knew that I had to do my own baking as well. My students and coworkers always benefitted from this because I knew that I couldn’t keep all the treats in the house!

This year I am joining in on a local Cookie Exchange with some women and I just found the recipe that I’m planning to use and couldn’t be anymore excited. I follow Frugal Family Home on Instagram and she posted these TO DIE FOR looking Peanut Butter and Jelly cookies today that were screaming for me to make them! I mean, who doesn’t love a good Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwich, these are just in cookie form! (and yes, there are no nut allergies in our group so I’m good). I will be making a few alterations to the recipe- almond flour instead of regular flour and I’m not sure which jam yet… maybe a few different ones.

My Favorite Math Activity

Spin to Win has become one of my ultimate FAVORITE math activities lately. Not only are they easy to implement (same directions throughout), super low prep (only need a copy, paper clip and a pencil) but they are also SUPER FUN!

Recently I was working with a group of students (actually several small groups) and we wrapped up our lesson with a Spin to Win on Adding Decimals (in the Fourth Grade set). As you can see the students were SUPER ENGAGED and working to get their answers out. They enjoyed creating their own worksheet of sorts and were wanting to talk about it non-stop!

Favorite Teacher Tool

And now, because you have seen them in use in my video above, my FAVORITE teacher tool to use is the amazing document holders! I seriously LOVE the fact that I can copy just a few of something on card stock, slip them into the document holders, give some dry erase markers and erasers and POOF! the activity is ready! Super easy and I save paper!!!

And because I love you all SO MUCH, I’m giving away a set of 10 of these awesome document holders for you to use in your classroom! Yes, you heard me right! Not only do you get the document holders but you will also get the coordinating dry erase markers with the build in erasers for you to use for awhile as well. All you have to do is fill out the survey with MULTIPLE ways to gain entry!

Now it’s time to hop over to Mrs. E Teaches Math‘s blog to enter another giveaway!

Giveaways end on Monday December 18, 2017 at 8PM EST!
