World Card-Making Day: Card #1

World Card Making Day began in 2006 by Paper Crafts magazine. It was originally only celebrated Nationally but soon became a rage across paper crafters it soon began to be known as World Card Making Day. This year there are many online celebrations going on and I am proud to show off some cards that I have created just for this specific day!

The card that I have created for you today was made using the Close To My Heart Typeset Collection that I absolutely adore. I love how this card came together pretty easily and {in my opinion} looks amazing! The card base is cut from Colonial White and is a standard A2 size (4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″). The base B&T duo paper is cut at 4″ square. The rectangular B&T piece that is behind the square layers is cut at 2″ x 3 3/4″. I then cut a piece of Juniper cardstock at 3 1/2″ square and the Colonial White cardstock is cut at 3 1/4″ square. Before I adhered all of these pieces down I inked the edges of them with Cocoa Ink. I love how it just made the edges pop.

Next, I used the Vintage Type alphabet border stamp and inked in Cocoa Ink and stamped it above the foundation layers that I had put down. I also used the UR Special stamp and inked it up in Cocoa Ink on Kraft Paper. I cut it out by hand and placed it on the Colonial White piece for a sentiment. I added pen work around the base and the Colonial White piece for a little extra accent.

My favorite part of this entire card was making the rosette with the Typeset paper. I cut a strip at 1 1/2″ x 12″ and used my Martha Stewart Score Board to score the paper at every 1/4″ inch the entire length of the paper. I punched a 1″ circle in Kraft to adhere it to on the back. I inked up the edges of the rosette (top and sides) with Cocoa Ink and adhered a Cranberry button with brown jute using Liquid Glass. I think that it was the perfect accent for this card and I can’t wait to give this to someone super special!

So are you creating cards today? What are your goals with your cards? I would love to see your creations as well so link them up in your comments.
