I was actually quite busy the past two weekends and didn’t get a load of scrapbooking in like I had in the previous weeks. I did however manage to sneak in this layout for one of Shimelle’s Starting Point’s this past weekend. Granted it’s out of the challenge window but oh well, I’m happy with it and it’s in my book and the story is told!
First I started with a sheet of Coordinations cardstock that I then layered with 4 different 6×6 sheets {My Mind’s Eye and Crate Paper}. I cut the 6×6 sheets down to 5 3/4″ x 5 3/4″ and then distressed the edges before inking them with Broken China or Shabby Shutters Distress Inks.
While I was distressing, I ran into a snag because I was giving it too much pressure and therefore the paper tore. Well, not to worry, I just grabbed my Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher and stapled it into place! Totally fixed and ready to go!
Next step was to choose some ribbons that I wanted to act as the strips across the page. I chose the paper bag strip first. I crumbled it up and then folded and ruffled it across the page. I adhered all three ribbons down with Scor-Tape and gave the paper bag a good mush to stick down.
Looking right on track so far. Now to make this Starting Point my own!
I knew this layout had to be about my precious Sookie. She is my baby and I totally don’t have enough layouts about her {or the other pups}. I grabbed two Instagram photos of her that I had printed at 4″ square. I mounted them on black cardstock and tied some Carribbean twine from The Twinery around the bottom of the photo strip. I used Foam Tape to adhere the photo strip the layout and decided to give it a bit of a tilt instead of my normal straight photos. Totally foreign for me!
Next up, I grabbed a few journaling spots from my collection and tucked them behind the photo strip. The green gingham is a printable from Splendid Miss M once again! 🙂
Finally I had to dig out the letter stickers for the title. I knew the at I wanted to mix it up with two different alphas. I used the Basic Grey letters for Sookie and American Crafts Thickers for Ninja.
And Sookie, my beloved, now has a new page to add to our book. The journaling on this layout states:
“Sookie has been one of the sweetest dogs. She is totally the boss and loves to burrow and hide from us.”
Do you scrapbook your pets? I’d love to see your layouts. Check back tomorrow for a layout of the beloved Jake!
