Over the past few weeks, you have seen me talk about Camp Scrap that is currently going on over at May Flaum’s blog. I will tell you, she has had some amazing inspirational things going on over there as well as a TON of giveaways!
For the first week, I wanted to incorporate as many things into one total project as I could. I did this and as soon as I get a good full picture of it, I will posting all about it. I promise, it will be worth the wait! 🙂
Well, moving into the second week, I was at a training for four days so I wasn’t able to create like I normally would. It all had to wait until I got home.
First challenge to tackle: NO PATTERNED PAPER! What the what May? I think that the only page I ever did without patterned paper was my very first page way back in 1997. LOL!
Okay, I was up for the challenge and I took it on head first. I started with a piece of cardstock that I then shielded with another piece of paper and did two lines of spray mist at the top with Mister Huey Water Cooler and Dylusions Fresh Lime. I then laid down some die cut stars from my Cameo on. More spray action for a fun look with Mister Huey Silver.
Next thing I did was quite a bit of embellishing. I knew what photo I would be using and had it out the entire time so I could place it on top and get the embellishments and washi lined up just right.
One challenge down, another one to go.
The next challenge was to focus on butterflies. Okay, not so bad. But what did I want to scrap that had butterflies on it? I don’t normally use them in my daily scrapping and had to dig quite a bit to find something that would work.
I pulled out a butterfly stamp and stamped it, colored in the edges and then cut out and covered with Glossy Accents. Love this trick that I learned!
For this layout, I simply started knowing that I wanted to add the three butterflies. I had no clue what else I was doing. I started layering various scraps and then just went with it. I grabbed two photos of our baby Aretha. I decided, why not do a layout about her and her many names. She has a special story of how she came to be and I wanted it documented.
This gave me the reason right there of what to do with the butterflies. Her two brothers passed away on Day 2. I put their names in the wings of the butterflies and love how this has turned out. Hubby loved it too and I think it helped both of us realize how special they all three are to us despite losing the boys.
So, I’m ready to tackle a few more of the challenges and will get started on them and share with you soon.
