Holiday Celebrations

Around here we haven’t made a lot of headway into getting ready for the holidays, work has kept both of us too busy. This weekend I booked it into my calendar for us to sit down and make Gingerbread Cookies and chocolate covered Oreos.

Last night we finally had time to sit down and make the Oreos. We decided to take the Gingerbread Pops with us to our first family Christmas and make them with the kids today.

Supplies Used:
Wilton Gingerbread Pop Kit
Wilton Candy Melts
Oreo Cookies

Following the directions on the pack of the candy melts, we failed and overheated them. UGH! Will never melt them in the microwave again but only do it via the double boiler.

Because of this, and the fact that we didn’t have vegetable shortening to fix it, we decided to just use a spoon to spread the peppermint melts over the top of one side of the Oreos. We tasted them and they did pretty well in our book.

Next year shall be better!  I hope that you are all having a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
