Start to Finish: Wrapping Up 30

30 has come and gone and now I am on to my 31st year. This weekend while I was scrapbooking, I thought that a review of my 30th year would be perfect for my scrapbook as it was a great year.

First: Pull out papers for the project that went along with the fun feeling I wanted to express. I used several different papers from the Basic Grey Life of the Party collection and one sheet from Prima (blue text).

Second: Cut down the Basic Grey Orange Whip paper down to 10″ square.

Third: Paint a thick border of purple paint around the edge of the cardstock to create a place for the eyes to land that are not just the Kraft cardstock. Use the remaining paint on my brush to splatter a bit on the background for a fun effect.

Fourth: Layout the elements that I want to use to get a feel for where they should go on the page and if anything is missing. At this point when I cut the tag down, I wanted to place it down below the pictures but it was too much for that corner so I just tossed it aside. I also saw that the stark kraft border between the pink and purple was too much so I knew I needed something there {more on that later}.

Fifth: Pull up photos and start adhering things down in the appropriate places on the layout.

Sixth: Once everything was adhered, I pulled out my White acrylic paint and painted in between the pink cardstock and purple line to add a pop. I made it really thick and love how it turned out. Now time to embellish.

Seventh: For the bottom corner, I added a October Afternoon grid label, some brads from my stash and some Making Memories mini alphabets. Love how I was able to add a subtitle in the corner.

Eighth: Next thing was to add a bit of embellishing to the circles that I had punched in the top corner. I pulled from the stash and just placed a nested group together.

Ninth: Next thing was to embellish the title banner. I didn’t like it when it was flat on the page so I POPPED it up with foam tape. I also didn’t want a stark edge so I painted the white strip around the edge after I used my new Dear Lizzy Thickers that I am in love with and using on everything!

Tenth: I had this tag that I had created just by painting teal strips all the way down on the diagonal and then went back in and filled in the empty spots with brown stripes. It seemed too bold to me so I went over the top with white paint and then wiped it off with a baby wipe. I also added some stamping from the Tim Holtz Spills and Splatters stamp set. I decided to write on the diagonal about the many things that have happened over the course of my past year.

30 was a great year. We started by buying our ranch together and added some love to the family with April and Jake.  We lost some of the babies but still love those we have.  We have settled into RV life and are working on the property more and more each day. I also lost 30 lbs over the course of the year and am working on more. Here’s to 31.

And so, just like my year of being 30, this layout is finished and added to the scrapbook with many others that have been completed lately. Have you ever created a wrap-up after your year on your birthday? I would love to see them.

Also, if you scraplift this Start to Finish I would love to be linked up to it as well and will add it to the Start to Finish Pinterest Board. Are you following? Why not?
