When I first picked this picture as the Photo Inspiration today over on the Card-A-Day Blog, I focused on the cats and the circles. I had a grand idea for what I wanted to do and then when it came down to it, I wanted to go simple.
The sketch for this card came to me right before I laid down for a nap last weekend and I was so happy when it was still with me when I woke up! 🙂 It was truly meant to be for this card.
I used the Mischief Paper Pack from Close to My Heart. The card base is cut at 6″ x 6″ from Barn Red Cardstock and then folded at 3″. After the card base was folded, I used the Wicked Stamp Set (August SOTM) and added some accents along the edges with the honeycomb border stamp. I love the look of using generational stamping on the edge of this card. The pieces of paper used are cut at 2″ x 6″, 1″ x 6″ and then the strip at 1/2″ x 6″. All of the edges are inked in Cocoa Ink.
After I adhered all the strip (on top of each other), I then cut a scalloped circle from Colonial White with the Art Philosophy Cartridge and inked the edges with Autumn Terracotta Ink. I then used the Cat from the Wicked Stamp set and curled it’s tail up a bit to make it fit on the scalloped circle. I inked it up in Black Ink and stamped it right on the circle. I gave it a bit of accent with a black marker around the edges and then adhered the scalloped circle with foam tape.
While I was making this first card, I couldn’t just make one card. I wanted it to be a bit different so I used the Witches Hat from the Wicked Stamp set and then stamped some extra swirls around the edges to accent it a bit. I love this one too! Now I just need to figure out who to give these too for Halloween! 🙂
